A well is a symbol of the life-sustaining power of water. Yet in many communities throughout the world, families have no well — or any source of water — to stay healthy, grow food, and earn income. The demand for water throughout the world is growing. At the same time, water scarcity is also rising. Of the limited water resources that are available, many are contaminated. Five million people, mostly children, die each year from water-borne diseases. You can help provide plentiful water to the world’s poorest people.
For the month of January we will be accepting donations in the water jug for Fill the Well.
Water affects every aspect of life. Lutheran World Relief works with local partners and rural communities to solve water problems at the source. With your help, we can continue to make sure families have the life-sustaining water they need now and for years to come.
Help Lutheran World Relief Fill the Well. Look at what your gifts can do:
$35 provides an emergency water filter to a family coping with disaster.
$150 gives a family a gravity-fed water filter, allowing children to attend school rather than fetch water.
$500 gives an entire community a water system that provides clean water for drinking and bathing.
$2500 gives a community an irrigation system to water their fields and help them grow crops for years to come.
Safe water to drink. Food to eat. Income for a better life. These are just a few of the ways water improves the lives of people around the world.
